Surrender to God

To surrender to God means to yield the ego’s claim to control and place your will in alignment with a higher, divine will.

At its core, surrender is not passivity or weakness. It is an active inner consent.

It means:

Letting go of the illusion of control
Recognising that the self, when isolated from God, cannot see the whole. Surrender says: “Not my limited knowing, but Your wisdom.”

Trusting beyond understanding
Choosing faith even when outcomes are unclear, uncomfortable, or contrary to personal desire.

Dying to the false self
In Christian mystical language, surrender is the crucifixion of the egoic “I” so that the true Self — the Christ within — may live.

Alignment, not submission
It is not coerced obedience to an external tyrant, but a loving return to one’s source. The will bends because it recognises truth, not because it is broken.

Interior stillness
Surrender produces a quieting of inner resistance. Anxiety lessens because the burden of being “in charge of everything” is laid down.

In the Western Mystery and Christian contemplative traditions, surrender is the gateway to gnosis — direct knowing of God — because it clears the inner noise that obscures divine presence.

As Meister Eckhart wrote:
“The soul must lose itself in God as a drop of water is lost in the ocean.”

Surrender is not losing yourself.
It is remembering who you are.🙏
